Over the past two weeks Smart Garden Products have had the privilege of sending volunteers to Helen & Douglas House – an Oxfordshire-based charity that provides hospice care and family support for children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses. In fact Helen & Douglas House was the world’s first children’s hospice, opened in 1982, and has inspired over 50 others across the world.
As you can see from these photos, our team helped in the gardens of the house, carrying out a variety of Spring-related activities. These were very fulfilling days, where everybody gained a much deeper understanding about the hospice and its practices and were able to help get the garden tidied up and ready for summer. Smart also donated some kids gardening tools as well as some solar lights and water features to provide even more points of interest in the garden.
Our Managing Director, Jonathan Stobart, reflected: “So many of our team wanted to contribute their time to this amazing organisation, illustrating the incredible work being done by the people there. Those who were fortunate enough to be selected all enjoyed pitching in, finding the experience to be richly rewarding and highly memorable. We hope this will become a semi-regular event for our Company”.
