Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made in accordance with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines how Smart Garden Products Ltd (SGP)aims to ensure that no occurrences of modern slavery or human trafficking takes place within both our business and our supply chain. The term ‘modern slavery’ incorporates slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking.

 

SGP operates a zero-tolerance policy in relation to any form of modern slavery. As a Company we act ethically and with transparency and are committed to safeguarding against any form of modern slavery occurring within our business or supply chain.

 

Our company

SGP is a leading supplier of garden products to the trade, with offices, showrooms and a distribution centre in the UK, offices and a showroom in France, and a sourcing office in China.

SGP’s aim is to give customers a broad product choice, outstanding service, constant innovation and profitable growth.

 

Our supply chain

SGP sources from manufacturers around the world, with prime focus on China. Transparency is encouraged in all areas of the relationships with suppliers, and it is expected that they uphold the same ethical standards as SGP.

 

  • SGP assesses all prospective suppliers prior to undertaking any business with them
  • SGP makes use of third-party ethical audits (e.g. SMETA and BSCI)
  • SGP is a member of SEDEX
  • SGP has a dedicated employed team based in China who carry out regular visits to suppliers and ensure that they adhere to the required standards and policies
  • SGP has a zero-tolerance commitment to slavery and human trafficking so that any supplier found in breach of this policy will be required to put immediate corrective actions in place or face being delisted

Key Performance Indicators

Through regular 3rd party audit programme and factory visits from our own staff, we monitor the progress of suppliers, ensuring corrective actions are put in place and ethical business practices are upheld.

 

Reporting and Training
SGP actively encourages both its employees and external suppliers to bring to light any information regarding confirmed or suspected unethical or illegal practices.

 

New employees are made aware of the Company’s policy regarding Modern Slavery and a copy of the Statement is held in the Company handbook.
